Formulas do not multiply when filled down
Have used excel for long time. Have a workbook that I cannot fill down
formulas because they carry the original sum from the first cell. I can manually enter formulas and it will calc. correctly. The formula ref. turns blue when typing and wrappes the ref. cells in blue as well, Similar to (tracing errors). How do I get this to stop. |
Hi,
The sum formula would have been given using absolute reference. Do you the cells prefixed with '$' symbol for eg. = $A$1+$A$2. This means even if you copy and paste these formulas, they will retain their original cel reference. To avoid this, remove the $ sign from the formulas. You can press F4 to key to do that or do it manually. Regards Govind. Frustrated Freddie wrote: Have used excel for long time.
