provide ability to undo a save - saved by mistake

I save an excel file but wished I hadn't. Wanted to keep earlier version and
save as different file. Would like to undo my mistake. Nothing built to do
that.

Yes, there is. If you create a backup, you can revert to the last saved
version.

In the Save As dialog, click Options, and check the "Always save backup"
checkbox.

If you want this to automatically apply to each new workbook, save your
template(s), including the default template with that option. See
"Create a template for workbooks or worksheets" in XL Help for how.
