Maintaining Protection when copying

I have locked certain cells in a row and I have want to copy the row. When I
copy the row, the cells in the copied row do not keep the locked status. Is
there anyway to do this? We want to be able to copy the row because it is a
template row. We want to beable to change some info but definately certain
cells need to remain locked.

If anyone has any helpful hints, they are all appreciated.
Thanks

I created a workbook with two worksheets.

On sheet1, I unlocked columns C:E.
I protected that sheet

I copied row 1 from sheet1 and pasted into A1 of sheet2.

The cells that were locked were still locked. The cells that were unlocked were
still unlocked.

I used xl2003.

Is that what you did?
