Pivot table help

I am trying to create a simple Pivot table with data in the range A2:BC3

where row 2 holds the months jan-01, feb-01 all the way thru Jun-05 and row
3 holds the amount

Column A holds the header labels cell A2 has "Month" and A3 holds "Amount"

I select the range A2:BC3 and go to Pivot next, next ...

In the field list Pivot table shows me all the months whereas all I want is
2 field "Month" and "Amount"

However when i transpose the data it just shows those 2 fields which I can
easily group by year and quarter.

Was wondering if there is some setting that I need to change to tell the
Pivot table that the data is in columns and not rows

Or transposing the data first and then creating Pivot table is the only
route.

Please help

A pivot table uses the data in the first row of the source data as field
names, and there's no setting you can change to make it use the first
column data.

If you transpose the data, it should work correctly.
