excel [HHHHH]:mm add subtract hours mins inc lnegative
This one is for the Aviation Field, specifically Engineering Maintenance
Planning. Many components are lifed by tens of thousands of hours. The need is to add and subtract just the hours and minutes without having to use INT MOD TRUNC or Date conversions. ie 30099:59 + 10000:01 or 25:59 - 30:01 using the same formula. Any combination of hours no matter how large or small or negative should add in the same way. To be able to see if any negative hours and minutes exist ie components past life. Excel for some strange reason always relates the addition and subtraction of hours to Dates. Excel should be much more Engineer friendly and with standard engineering functions. Wasting time trying to make a formula to add and subtract tens of thousands of hours when [HHHHHH]:mm should be a valid format. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
