Can I enter a formula in a comment?
Excel 2003: I want to display some extra detail on a cell when the pointer
runs over it. This is like the "insert comment" function but I want the detail to come from another cell (e.g. if the cell contains "JS" the edit bow will show "John Smith", which it looks-up from another cell or worksheet). Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks |
I found a couple ways to use a macro for this (http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/ccomment.htm) but no way to have an active formula that updates the comment based on the contents of another cell. I'd definitely use such a method if anyone else knows if this is possible (one page I saw said it was not possible btw). -- William DeLeo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ William DeLeo's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...fo&userid=1256 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=383468 |
Thanks - that was really helpful.
