Symbols in Data Validation List
Hi there,
I want to know if there is a way to show the symbols (e.g. webdings, wingdings) from a drop down list instead of it showing the text counterpart? For instance, I have a drop down list that shows arrows. When you click on the cell where the data validation was set up, the drop down only shows the text counterpart of those symbols and not the arrows per se. I changed the format of the cell so it would show the symbol once selected and it's working fine. What I need is for the actual symbols to show from the drop down so as not to confuse whomever is going to use the worksheet. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Marie |
Hi Marie,
You cannot change the font of a data validation dropdown list. However, on her web site, Debra Dalgleish demonstrates a workaround method for displaying a combobox in data validation cells. The combobox font and size properties can be set to suit your requirement. See Debra's detailed instructions and sample file at: http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal10.html --- Regards, Norman "marie" wrote in message ... Thanks Norman. I will try it and will advise if unsuccessful.
