Recover earlier version of sheet?
I accidentally saved a new version of an Excel spreadsheet using the same
file name as the previous version. Is there any way to recover the old one? |

I accidentally saved a new version of an Excel spreadsheet using the same file name as the previous version. Is there any way to recover the old one? Not cheaply. Not easily. If you really, really need the old version, shut down your system ASAP, then use another computer to look up data recovery specialists in your area. They may or may not be successful recovering the file, but the way Excel saves files means it doesn't overwrite the same disk sectors. It can be slow and error-prone to reconstruct files by salvaging disk sectors, but that's the only way this can be done. |
