Using COUNTIF & compare 2 different #'s

I've got a worksheet that I need to capture info between 1000 & 1080 and then
have the number of times it appears in a specific range. The last formula I
tried to input =COUNTIF(G2:AG2,"=1000")-COUNTIF(G2:AG2,"<=1080") reflects
either 0 in my target cell or gives me an error. Any help someone could give
would be greatly appreciated. Plus, please don't get to techical, I'm a
newby. Thanks!

Maybe

=COUNTIF(G2:AG2,"<=1080") -COUNTIF(G2:AG2,"<1000")

I've tried this before but with 1000 first and then 1080 second. Plus, I
didn't leave a blank space between the 1st range and the next COUNTIF. I'm
going to try the formula below and see how it goes. Will let you know what
happens. Thanks! Linda G
