consolidating duplicate values and summing their corresponding val
I have rows of data divided into counties with tonnage amounts in a
cooresponding cell. I need to have one row for each county, and the tonnage for each separate one summed. Here is an example of what I mean.... State County Tons Commodity LA ACADIA 1.5 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 21.82 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 0.3 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 414.85 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 9.1 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 2.23 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 38.73 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 5809.16 AMMONIUM NITRATE LA ACADIA 50.65 AMMONIUM NITRATE So it should read: LA ACADIA 6348.34 AMMONIUM NITRATE I have hundreds of counties over 10 different spreadsheets. consolidating duplicate values and summing their corresponding val

Hi Tricia. It looks like you need a Pivot Table. Please look at:- http://www.pierrefondes.com/ - where I have just put up your example at number 86. I have added a couple of counties so you can see how things work. You may need to move some of the information that you have in other Worksheets into a single Worksheet. I appreciate that this would involve effort on your part. Please hit Yes if my comments have helped. Thanks. consolidating duplicate values and summing their corresponding
Sorry,
You are right, I am just new to this group. Yes, I need something - I don't care what - a macro, a formula. To sum the duplicates and then delete them so the spreadsheet still looks basically the same with only one entry per state, per county, with the dups values totalled. Thanks! -- taz0923 "Don Guillett" wrote: You should stay in the ORIGINAL thread so we know what you are talking about. If you don't like pivot tables (I don't either) then how about subtotals or a macro to do it for you. If desired, send your file to my address below. I will only look if:
1. You send a copy of this message on an inserted sheet 2. You give me the newsgroup and the subject line 3. You send a clear explanation of what you want 4. You send before/after examples and expected results. -- Don Guillett Microsoft MVP Excel SalesAid Software "TriciaZ" wrote in message ... Sorry, You are right, I am just new to this group.
