Running Total

Hello Group Excel,

I am using Excel 2003.

My computation Columns are "E" to "J", and starts on Row 15.

Column "I" is the Total.

Column "J" is the Running Total.

With the following data:

E F G H I J

..12 2.12 .09 -3.25 -.92 -.92

..08 1.99 .03 -2.99 -.89 -1.81

..10 2.05 .07 -3.15 -.93 -2.74

((In the "J" Column when there is no)) -2.74
((amount in Columns "E" to "I",))
((through Row 42 shows the last total.)) -2.74

-2.74

-2.74

After the final total of -2.74, how can I
eliminate subsequent amounts of -2.74
from appearing in the Running Total
Column, until I get to the 42nd Row
that will show the grand total?

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Something like this in J15:J41 should work:

=IF(I15<"",SUM(I$15:I15),"")

In column J2, copied down to J41:
=IF(ISBLANK(I2),"",SUM(I$2:I2))

In J42:
=SUM(I2:I41)

Or, if you really want a single formula <grin:
=IF(OR(ISBLANK(I2),ROW()<42),"",SUM(I$2:I2))

Apologies, last formula should use AND, not OR:

=IF(AND(ISBLANK(I2),ROW()<42),"",SUM(I$2:I2))
