How can I prevent Excel from mixing my table data during a sort? Can I
prevent excel from ever sorting a single column instead of the entire table? |

You need to select the table before you sort. Select the rows and columns
that you want to sort; don't let Excel guess for you. -- David Biddulph "WinchesterJordan" wrote in message ... How can I prevent Excel from mixing my table data during a sort? Can I prevent excel from ever sorting a single column instead of the entire table? |

Yeah, you DEFINITELY do not want to sort one column, and not others, if that
one column is combined with data in other columns. Excel 2002 and after should prompt you for this potential catastrophe. The message is ... 'Expand the selection or Continue with current selection' You are literally prompted for this, but then you have to decide if you are sorting just one column or all columns -- there could be arguments for both, especially the latter. Basically, you can't always expect Excel to know what you want to do in this kind of scenario. Access will always sort all records relative to any sort in any column, but that is RDBMS and Excel is a spreadsheet application.
