Formatted Result from an IF function

Hi,
Is it possible that when i give an IF function in excel, the options come
with different formats. For example, if i say that pass and fail are two
results of an IF function, i want pass to be in green and fail to be in red.
It would be great if the background color of the cell changes instead of the
font.

Please let me know if its possible.
Regards,
Sri Harsha.

Hi,

You can conditional format the formula cell to change colour depending on
the formula result.

Format|Conditional format
select cell value - is equal to and enter Pass and pick your colour
Click ADD and repeat for Fail

Formatted Result from an IF function

In Excel 2007, I have a column E with text in it stating either "YES" or
"NO". In column N I have values corresponding to each specific line
containing either a "YES" or a "NO". How do I only condition format column N
values less than 0 IF column E states "YES"?
