missing data w/ advanced filter
I have a database with 20 columns and about 15,000 rows. To use a pivot
table I then use an advanced filter to select the months records that I want in the pivot table. The problem is that records that match the filter sometimes aren't in the extracted data. Entry is put it by batches and the missing records, when there are some, are always the first record of a batch entry. If i copy the record and insert in the same place and change values on the first line - everything works fine. But I can't count on accurate results. What is wrong? |

Hi Joe,
This is strange. You have a line in the middle of your data that matches your filter criteria that is not selecting. The only reasons that a filter has failed for me is if there is a blank line in the middle of the data - but then none of the rows below that line will be selected. Can you paste the cell content of what is not selecting and what is selecting from the first line of the batch? -- If this post helps click Yes --------------- Peggy Shepard "Joe" wrote: I have a database with 20 columns and about 15,000 rows. Hi,
In Excel 2003 and prior versions, the auto filter drop down shows only upto 1,000 unique records. That could be the reason for some records not showing up -- Regards, Ashish Mathur Microsoft Excel MVP www.ashishmathur.com "Joe" wrote in message ... I use 2 fields in the filter
Date:8/21/2009 8/21/2009 Product:Dasani Water 500ml Dasani Water 500ml They look exactly the same and I have compared them and replaced them but nothing works until I add a line "pshepard" wrote: Hi Joe, This is strange. I am using 2007 SP2 also there are 725 records selected when I use the same
criteria that the advanced filter used. Also, the regular filter shows the record - that is how I found out the missing record. The criteria is: =AND(Data!V6=INV_REPORT_BEGIN,Data!V6<=INV_REPORT _END)
The fields change for each report and now contain: inv_report_begin = 7/31/09 and inv_report_end = 8/31/09. The data has a value of 8/21/09 I don't know how to show you the data - it is a big file "Ashish Mathur" wrote: Tell us what criteria you are using.
