The icon is based on the Opens With option. If you want to open it with
another application, you can right-click on the file, go to proerties and click the Change... button. Otherwise, you can change the icon associated with Excel itself, which means all files that open with Excel will have the new icon. "Romileyrunner1" wrote: Hi, well the title really is the question. Hi Sean,
how do you change the icon associated with excell? And will this mean all the excell files on that computer will have a different icon? Thanks, RR1 "Sean Timmons" wrote: The icon is based on the Opens With option. My ComputerToolsFolder OptionsFile Types.
Scroll down to Excel Workbook(xls or xlsx) Hit "Advanced" then "Change Icon" This will be a global change for all Excel files/ Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Sat, 5 Sep 2009 11:16:01 -0700, Romileyrunner1 wrote: Hi Sean, how do you change the icon associated with excell? Hi,

You could change the extension of those files to some other unused three
character string, like "excel file.EXL" and then follow Gord's directions below to change the icon for that extension. Romileyrunner1 wrote: Hi, thanks GORD, works just fine. Well done to you. Only if you have different extensions (.xls vs. .xlsx). Same as below, but
pick your icon for each. "Romileyrunner1" wrote: Hi, thanks GORD, works just fine. Well done to you.
