I'm trying to create a formula in I will reference a cell with text in it and
then look through a table to find if it is found. Basically it is going to
be used to find whether a first and last name is found on another table.
Thanks and hopefully this is clear.

sounds like you may want either VLOOKUP, INDEX or SUMPRODUCT. Are you saying
your referenced cell is an entire name and you need to find the first name
and last name in a separate table?

Will your referenced cell ALWAYS be first name and last name? Will some have
middle names? Will any have just middle initials? Will there be any with a
dual last name (Smith Johnson)?

It is not clear.

Give us a cell reference that would contain text.

e.g. A1 contains the word Arock Smith

What is the table range you are looking into?

e.g. D1:M32

What text is contained in cells in that table?

Arock Smith is found by itself or as part of a longer string?

Could it be found more than once?
