Adding letters instead of numbers

I was curious if you could add how many "A" there were in a range.

i.e. If a1:a25 had an "A" in each cell, then how do you insert a function to
eaual 25?

Adding letters instead of numbers

=COUNTIF(A1:A25,"a")

Change the range as needed
