Using Networkdays with negative numbers
 

say i have 3 columns <ID <Est Finish Date and <Actual Finish Date and I
want an extra column that tells me how many working days before or after the
estimated finish date the actual finish date is. I used Networkdays and it
gave me the number of days after the estimated date minus the weekends,
however when the actual date was before the estimated date the formula still
counted the weekends.

Does anyone know a way of stopping this from happening?

If you data is set up like this
Column A Column B Column C Column D
JobID Est Fin Date Fin Date Difference

Enter the following formula in D2, and drag it down Column D:
=IF($B2=$C2,0,IF($C2<$B2,NETWORKDAYS($B2,$C2)+1,NE TWORKDAYS($B2,$C2)))

If you finish the job on time:
Column D=0
If you finish the job early:
Column D= (-)#of days
If you finish the job late:
Column D= (+)#of days

If you have a Holiday Table, in D2 use:
=IF($B2=$C2,0,IF($C2<$B2,NETWORKDAYS($B2,$C2,HolRa nge)+1,NETWORKDAYS($B2,$C2,HolRange)))
