ENTER A FORMULA IN A CELL TO UTILIZE THE IMPORT DATA FUNCTIONS?

I am tring to utilize formulas to access data on my companies server. The
data is Excel worksheets that are placed there by another department and I
want to read a certain field out of these files. I would like to be able to
enter the file name in my worksheet and have the formula perform a data
lookup. Is there any hope of me ever being able to do something like this?

Gary, with the indirect function, the file I am trying to pull data in from
must be open to initially get the data and must also be opened everytime I
access my worksheet
