Date format in the cell

How I can change date format.
My problem is following: I use other program where I can export excel-file.
This program use USA format (like 05/25/2009), but my excel use europe
format (like 25.09.2009).Queston is, how I can change my excel's cells (or
worksheet) setting. I don't wanna change my computer settings, only cell or
worksheet settings.

Final results: I must calculate date, so now excel not work.
