Default "Validation" question

When validating a cell from a list, is it possible to create a formula tied
to that validation? For instance:

column A - each cell has a drop down option for specific products (6 in all)
column B - each cell has a drop down option for the "sub-product"(approx 10
sub products for each product - total of 60)

Is there any way to have column B return ONLY the options that are tied to
the specific product in column A? (only the 10 "subproducts" directly tied to
that product)

See Debra Dalgleish's site for more on dependent lists.
