Percentage to Get Invested Return
I pulled these numbers manually but would like to learn how to do it with
Excel. A small nonprofit would like to receive $25,000 annually from their endowment investment to cover operating costs. The question is how much is needed in their endowment to receive that $25,000 if 2%, 3%, 4%, .... 9%, etc. is the percentage of return? The board wants to be able to enter a percentage and Excel calculate the endowment investment total. Here are my manual totals. Amount Percentage Amount to Operate $1,250,000 2% $25,000 $833,340 3% $25,000 $625,000 4% $25,000 $500,000 5% $25,000 $416,660 6% $25,000 $357,140 7% $25,000 $312,500 8% $25,000 $277,780 9% $25,000 Thank you. |
Percentage to Get Invested Return
Say that column A has the amount needed, column B has the % that the board
enters and column C is the static $25,000. In column A you need this formula: =C1/B1 $25,000/.09 = $277,780 $25,000/.02 = $1,250,000 etc. Is that what your are looking to do? Post back and let us know. -- Regards, PJ Please rate this post using the vote buttons if it was helpful. I knew there was a very simple way but I worked with that crazy thing
yesterday and never could get it. I was trying to make it too complicated. Many thanks for your help. I've bookmarked this site -- it's great.
