Cell will not update
Cell "D3" has a drop down list of names that are linked to specific number
values on another sheet. These number values are named "four, five, six, and eight" individually. I have written the following function in cell "D5." {=IF(D3=four,"4",IF(D3=five,"5",IF(D3=six,"6",IF(D 3=eight,"8","N/A"))))} The function works initially, but if I change the name in cell "D3" cell "D5" does not update and just keeps my value if incorrect condition (N/A). How can I get the function to update if the name in "D5" changes? Thanks for any help... |

Your formula is wrong.
It quotation marks need to go around the text, not the numbers (unless you specifically are wanting numbers displayed as text). Also, there's not reason for the formula to be an array. =IF(D3="four",4,IF(D3="five",5,IF(D3="six",6,IF(D3 ="eight",8,"N/A")))) Note that if you actually need the #N/A error: =IF(D3="four",4,IF(D3="five",5,IF(D3="six",6,IF(D3 ="eight",8,NA())))) -- Best Regards, Luke M *Remember to click "yes" if this post helped you!* "nitrofueled" wrote: Cell "D3" has a drop down list of names that are linked to specific number values on another sheet. The text (four, five, six, and eight) are names for series of values that are
located on a seperate sheet. The number is what I want to be displayed when a certain value is located within the specific series. So, if a,b, and c are located in the series named "four" and I input "a" into cell "D3" I want cell "D5" to display the number 4. Thanks for your help "Luke M" wrote: Your formula is wrong.
