Downloaded a ws and can't edit it due to protection, which requires a
password to remove the protection. Sender insists it's not protected.
Forwarded the ws to my work computer and all's fine. It was NOT protected
My version is Office 2000, works version is Office 2003.
All other ws on the computer are fine.

I dont understand what the problem is unless the attribute for the sheet
was set to read only!

Thanks Simon for your quick response, However, the problem ws is not read
only, no matter which cell i try to type in it states that it's protected and
when I try to unprotect it, password is asked for.( I'm using Office
2000).The originator of the ws states that its not protected, hence no
password used. I then sent the ws to my wife's computer(which uses Office
2003) and she has no problems. To prove it, she entered a few cells and sent
it back to me.Once again my excell says it's protected and I can't use the
ws. I copied the ws onto a usb stick (directly from outlook express) and
transferred it to my laptop (which is also using Office 2000) and still can't
edit the ws. I received this ws the other day and it's the only ws I've had
this problem with. All other ws on both my computers behave perfectly
correct. I'm stumped

I have 2000, 2003 ans 2007 and cannot replicate your problem, have you
tried opening PERSONAL.XLS and see if there are any macro's in it
specifically dealing with a sheet named the same as the one you are
trying to open?

Will try what you suggest and let you know, may be after Christmas because
I'm off to UK for a couple of days. Thanks once again for your prompt reply.

You may even have to reset your Excel using the .xlb file!Alan;156108 Wrote:
