If question
Cell S12 - =IF((A12)*(A12<""),VLOOKUP(A12,'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35,3),"")
Cell A12 contains a value & In cell S12 i get the answer #N/A (I was expecting this answer, there is nothing wrong) However, since Cell A12 is not in the table array (From above formula) 'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35 (This is where i got the #N/A from) i do not want that text to actually appear(Want the cell to be blank). if that makes sense How can i modify my formula to allow this to happen I am not enitrely sure, but i think the vlookup section of the formula may need the modifying |
If question
Perhaps this in S12 might suffice:
=IF(A12="","",VLOOKUP(A12,'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35,3,0)) -- Max Singapore http://savefile.com/projects/236895 Downloads:20,500 Files:365 Subscribers:65 xdemechanik --- |
If question
Though, it did not make the message "#N/A" dissapear, you have been able to
shorten my formula, thanks, last time i tried the same formula, it didnt work for some reason, & after copying & pasting yours, it worked "Max" wrote: Perhaps this in S12 might suffice: =IF(A12="","",VLOOKUP(A12,'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35,3,0)) -- Max Singapore http://savefile.com/projects/236895 Downloads:20,500 Files:365 Subscribers:65 xdemechanik --- |
If question
Then you want this:
=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(A12,'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35,3,0)),"",VLOOKUP(A12,'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35,3,0)) This is a very common structure when using Vlookup. Regards, Fred. "DDD" wrote in message ... If question
If you have Excel 2007, you can use the more elegant
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A12,'Books Borrowed'!$A$5:$G$35,3,0),"") -- __________________________________ HTH Bob "Fred Smith" wrote in message ...
