Split Spreadsheet to change column alignment
 
can I split my spreadsheet horizontally so i can change the spacing between
information in the top portion verse the bottom portionof my
spreadsheet?

No - the column width is fixed for the whole column.

Split Spreadsheet to change column alignment
 
You can merge adjacent cells so that some would look wider than others, but I
wouldn't do it.

Merged cells can cause trouble with copy|pasting, sorting, a whole bunch of
stuff.
