Pasting formatting from one worksheet to another

Hello,

Whenever I copy data from one worksheet to a 2nd worksheet, the formatting
changes (on the 2nd worksheet) even though I use the "paste special" all
feature. Is there a solution to this?

Regards,

Brandon

On the Home ribbon, there is a button to the far left called "Format
Painter". It works just like copy/paste for formatting only. Select what
you want to copy, click the button, then select what you want to apply it to.

Hi,

You didn't tell us what version of Excel you are using - 2007 or earlier?
what formatting is not being copied? Are both worksheets in the same
workbook?

Generally all the formatting goes along when you copy and paste. FYI, not
need to choose Paste Special, All - you might as well just choose Paste.

In 2007 you may have a theme related issue. In that case just use copy and
paste, and after pasting note the paste options icon (a mini clipboard
usually at the bottom right of the pasted range) open it up and choose Keep
Source Formatting.

If this help, please click the Yes button

Cheers,

Hi Shane, thanks for the reply.

The excel version is 2003 and the w/sheets are in different workbooks.
Brandon's suggestion seemed to do the trick but it did not paste the data,
(just the formatting) so I had to go back and cut and paste the data again
over the formatting and it worked. The older excel version may explain why
it didn't work the old fashioned way.

Take care.
