Same =rand() value in two adjacent cells in column
I want to use the rand() function to put the same random value in two
adjacent cells in a row and then a new random value in the next two cells, etc. The appearance might typically look as follows: c1=.33784, c2=.33784, c3=.11562, c4=.11562, c5=.01356, c6=.01356, c7=.88158, c8=.88158, etc up to about cell c2000. |

In C2, put the formula =C1. Select the two cells, and copy-and-paste or drag down through the rest of the column. up to about cell c2000. In my experience, it is a drag :-) to copy/drag through so many cells. The following works well for me. Select C1:C2 and copy (e.g, ctrl-C). Enter C3:C2000 in the Name Box (near the upper left in my set-up). That should select that range. Put the cursor in the highlighted C3 and paste (e.g, ctrl-V). HTH. |

Try this...
C1: =RAND() C2: =IF(MOD(ROW(),2),RAND(),C1) Copy the formula in C2 down as far as needed. -- Biff Microsoft Excel MVP "PSRumbagh" wrote in message ...
