Can I disable the copy feature?
I have created a spreadsheet, and protected it. However, I can still
copy/paste it into another worksheet and unhide the hidden cells. I wish to prevent this. Can anyone please provide me some assistance? Tim |

Can anyone please provide me some assistance? The *ONLY* real IP protections Excel provides are file open and file modify passwords, which function like encryption. However, any file your users and/or customers can open they can, with VERY little effort, see *EVERYTHING* in the file. There's NO WAY to disable copying that doesn't require macros, and it's child's play to disable macros, so child's play to thwart anything you try to do to disable copying. Worksheet and workbook password protection is a joke, only useful for preventing innocent and inadvertent modification. If you want serious protection for your IP, you've made a *BIG* *MISTAKE* trying to use Excel as a distribution platform. Others may offer advice and various bandade solutions, but anything anyone proposes can be circumvented in minutes by any reasonably sophisticated Excel user. I'm being harsh because I don't want to retain any false hope that you can achieve what you seem to want. |
