Data in excel wont autosum

I've copied and pasted some figures from a PDF document, now I cannont get
excel to autosum. There is quite a bit of data and don't really care to
hand jam it. This has worked in the past, but not so cooperative this time.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Try this

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A6))

alter the range to suit

Excel could be seeing the data as text. Put a zero in an empty cell and then
copy it. Select all of your data and Paste Special / Add.
