conditional formatting

hi

I am trying to format a cell to change two two different colors when values
in two other cells meet some conditions. For example

The cell being formatted is E2 (This cell will have no text just a color
pattern)
I want it to change to Yellow when a particular date is reached in B2 (This
I have figured out)
I want the cell to change to green when the first condition is met AND there
is any alphanumeric data in F2

Any ideas or suggestions. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Max

Try something like this as the CF's "Formula Is" for E2:
=AND(B2= --"19 Oct 2008",ISTEXT(F2))

Hi,

1. Select the cell E2 and choose Format, Conditional Formatting
2. For the first condition choose Formula is from the first drop down
3. In the box to the right enter
=AND($B$2=DATE(2008,10,1),$F$2<"")
Adjust the DATE argument to meet your needs.
4. Click the Format button and choose Green on the patterns tab and click OK
once
5. Click Add
6. Choose Formula is from the first drop down and enter the formula
=$B$2=DATE(2008,10,1)
7. Set the Format of this condition to yellow.

If you are using 2007 you need to tell us because the steps are different.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

thanks for the response but the problem is that the date in b2 is not fixed
it is generated by the following formula

=AND(B2<"",B2<TODAY()+183)

or in some caes by

=TODAY()39857

As you probably figured out I am new at this and maybe it is not possible to
change the color this way

Thanks
