Help with if then function
I am trying to use an If function in a spreadsheet to check if a person is
married or single and their taxable income is within a certain range then the tax is calculated. I have pasted the what the formula does but I do not known how to get the formula to work. Can someone help me create the following into an if function? Your help is greatly appreciated. taxman =IF (Cell D2 = Married) and Cell E35 $349,700, then (value in Cell E35 minus $349,700 x 35%) + $94601.00), =IF (Cell D2 = Married) and Cell E35 $195,850 and < $349,700, then (value in Cell E35 minus $195,850 x 33%) +$43,830.50), =IF (Cell D2 = Married) and Cell E35 $128,500 and < $195,850, then (value in Cell E35 minus 128,500 x 28%) + $24,972.50), =IF (Cell D2 = Married) and Cell E35 $128,500 and < $$63,700, then (value in Cell E35 minus $128,500 x 25%) + $8,772.50), =IF (Cell D2 = Married and Cell E35 $63,700 and < $15,650, then (value in Cell E35 minus $63,700 x 15%) + $1,565.00), =IF (Cell D2 = Married and Cell E35 $0 and < $15,650, then (value in Cell E35 x 10%), =IF (Cell D2 = Single and Cell E35 $349,700, then (value in Cell E35 minus $349,700 x 35 %) + $101, 469 .25), =IF (Cell D2 = Single and Cell E35 $160,850 and < $349,700, then (value in Cell E35 minus $160,850 x 33%) + $39,148.75), =IF (Cell D2 = Single and Cell E35 $77,100 and < $160,850, then (value in Cell E35 minus $77,100 x 28%) + $15,698.75), =IF (Cell D2 = Single and Cell E35 $31,850 and < $77,100, then (value in Cell E35 minus $31,850 x 25%) + $4,386.25), =IF (Cell D2 = Single and Cell E35 $7,825.00 and < $31,850, then (value in Cell E35 minus $7,825 x 15%) + $782.50), =IF (Cell D2 = Single and Cell E35 $0 and < $7,825, then (value in Cell E35 x 10%). |

Taxman- I did not provide solutions for all of these since the formula logic would be the same and only the values would change. Therefore, I provided examples for the first two on your list and from these, you should be able to adapt them to your remaining formulas. Just copy and change the cell references. For your first item: =IF(AND(D2="Married",E35349700),(E35-349700*0.35)+94601,0) For your second item: =IF(AND(D2="Married",E35195850,E35<349700), (E35-195850*0.33)+43830.5,0) Best of luck. Help with if then function
You should create 2 separate tables, one for Married, one for Single, then
you can use a single formula. Tell me what result you expect when: D2 = Married E35 = 228221 -- Biff Microsoft Excel MVP "taxman" wrote in message ...
