How can I password protect a particular column?

I want to hide a column and protect it by a password, so that people may work
on (edit) in other columns and rows with out being able to unhide my hidden
column.
Is that possible?

You can hide that column then protect the worksheet with a password.

First unlock all cells in the sheet, then lock the column to hide.

Now hide the column.

ToolsProtectionProtect Sheet with a password.

Note: Excel's interanl security is very weak and passwords easily broken.
