COUNTIF using formatting
I need to count the number of cells that have a specific color formatting.
(example: making a calendar and highlighting vacation days in yellow background....wanting to total all cells background of color X). possible? |
COUNTIF using formatting
IMO, it would be easier to denote a Vacation with a letter V then do a
simple COUNTIF on the letter V. Otherwise, you need VBA code: http://xldynamic.com/source/xld.ColourCounter.html -- Biff Microsoft Excel MVP "Suz_c_mitchell" wrote in message ... Nothing built into excel allows you to do this.
But you could use a user defined function like the ones from Chip Pearson: http://cpearson.com/excel/colors.aspx Suz_c_mitchell wrote: I need to count the number of cells that have a specific color formatting. I need the calendar dates preserved, so highlighting the days when figuring
out one's schedule is the easiest way for school administrators. We have to plan and submit our vacations days a year in advance, so I wanted a counter to track the days as they are picking them. Thanks though :) "T. Valko" wrote: IMO, it would be easier to denote a Vacation with a letter V then do a simple COUNTIF on the letter V. wow...would have never guessed Excel would miss that one! I see so many uses
to Countif X-color too!! Your link (albeit probably dead-on), is a little more than a basic function insert for sure--a little daunting indeed :) But I appreciate the thought...thanks :) "Dave Peterson" wrote: Nothing built into excel allows you to do this.
