Sum results from 2 columns that meet criteria

Hi .. been trying to figure out formula for 2 days and can't seem to do it.

Would like excel to sum how many hires per month across several teams. I
currently have data in 2 columns, e.g.

Col A Col B
Team Month
DS May
GF April
DS April

how do I write the formula so excel will look at column A, then B and total
results per team per month.

Thank you!
