Default is there a quick easy way to input time?

I have to input the start time time and finish time in a spreadsheet. Is
there an easier way to do this than using "SHIFT :"? Can I input time using
decimals in lieu of the colon? How is military time input into a spreadsheet?

Default is there a quick easy way to input time?

Click on Tools | Autocorrect and in the Replace box enter a full-stop
and in the With box enter a colon, then click Add and then OK to close
the box. Now in the cell(s) where you want to enter the time you can
enter 12.34 and this will automatically be changed to 12:34:00 (the
format may not show the seconds, but you change that by Format | Cells
| Number tab and choose Custom to set your own format).

If you want to enter seconds then you can just type in 1.2.34 to get
1:02:34 displayed. If you have no hours, you must enter this as 0.1.23
to get 0:01:23, i.e. with a leading zero for the hours.

Remember to go back to Tools | Autocorrect and highlight that entry
and click Delete then OK, in order to return your settings to normal.

Hope this helps.

Pete

See Chip Pearson's site if interested in event code for entering times without
colons or dots or /'s
