Combining first and last names into one column

Using excel 2003 Ihave two columns one with first name and one with last
name. In a third column I used the formula and got Lastname, first name,
however I cannot delete the first two columns and retain the combined column.
What have I done wrong? Help please.

Combining first and last names into one column

You'll need to select the column of formulas
Then...From the Excel Main Menu:
<edit<copy
<edit<paste special
....Check: Values
....Click: [OK]

Then you can delete the original columns

Does that help?
