I want to link check boxes to student fees. Each check box would equal a
specific dollar amount. Can this be done to give a total dollar amount at
the end of the check boxes?

You do not have to use checkboxes for this. Try Data Validation. Saya you
have a list of fees in the book named Amounts.

Choose Data, Validation, in the Allow drop-down choose List, in the source
type =Amounts and click OK.

When you enter the validation area you will see an arrow; click on this and
choose a figure from the list.

You can enter a normal sum below the area.
