Vlookup and "value"

How do I sum across a table the results of several vlookup functions.
In my table I have three columns. In each column is the result of a vlookup
function. I sum across the three colums , in the fourth column and the result
that returns is "Value".
I next tried to convert all the formula results to values by doing copy,
paste special, values .

It still results the same term value when i try to sum the three colums
going across.
The original information was imported into excel.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Vlookup and "value"

If you're using a formula like this:

=A1+B1+C1

And you're getting #VALUE! errors then one or all of the values in A1, B1
and C1 are TEXT. You say these values are the results of lookup formulas.
What do these formulas look like? You also say the original information was
imported into excel. Imported data is a good source for "junk" that'll hose
otherwise properly constructed formulas.
