Hours and Minutes
I am trying to do a time spread sheet, I am using hh:mm which works ok until I input a time that comes to a total of 9 hours when the total time reaches 9 hours it gives me 00:00 if I put eg 08:00 to 15:00 = 07:00 this is correct but if I put 08:00 to 17:00 should = 09:00 but gives me 00:00 I cannot work out what I am doing wrong could some one help. Please do in simple terms as I am self taught on excel and have worked out alsorts but if you get too technical I get lost. Thanks Frustrated Helen -- Helen Black |
Hi Helen
not surprising that you're frustrated :) dates & times get me like that too okay assuming your dates are in ........A................B...................C 1...08:00..........17:00...........=B1-C1 should give you the correct answer - to check if excel is recognising your input correctly, format all three cells to general (do on a copy of the workbook) and you should see: ...........................A...................... .......B.........................C 1.....0.333333333333333.....0.708333333333333....0 .375 how does this compare with what you have?
