message "Too many different cell formats" problem
1. When a file will not load because of this problem, is there a way to get
around this and load it any way? My version of Excel is ver 8 (Office 97). 2. Do the later versions allow for more different cell formats? 3. Is there a way to find out how close you are to the maximum allowed befor you get there? Thankyou Ed |
Hi Ed,
Lots of improvements in the way formatting is handled since Excel 95 and Excel 97. and probably in the operating system in use as well. The OS still seems 12-25 years behind though regards to Virtual Storage. Anyway see this recent thread about getting rid of unused formats http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?th...GP12.p hx.gbl And each combination of inside/outside border (top/bottom/right/left), colors for each, width of border, number format, all make for a unique combination. Another reason to format an entire sheet or entire columns at one time. --- HTH, David McRitchie, Microsoft MVP - Excel [site changed Nov. 2001] My Excel Pages: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/excel.htm Search Page: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/search.htm "Ed" wrote in message ... 1.
