Keeping Adjacent Columns Attached to a Pivot Table
I am using a pivot table to control a list that needs to be updated
frequently and feeds into a complex series of workbooks. Each individual adds their own data in colums adjacent to a copy of the pivot table located on their own spreadsheet. When the pivot table is updated and sorted, the sheet where individuals are adding data updates with the new row headings, but only the headings sort leaving the related data in the wrong rows. Is there any better way to do this? |
Keeping Adjacent Columns Attached to a Pivot Table
You can't connect manually entered data to the items in an adjacent
pivot table. Perhaps users could enter the data on a separate sheet, adjacent to a static list of values that are used in the pivot table. Then, use VLookup formulas to display those values in the column adjacent to the pivot table. For example, if company names are shown in the pivot table on Sheet1, list the companies on Sheet2. Enter comments beside the list on Sheet2. In Sheet2, use a VLookup formula to return the comment for each company in the pivot table.
