Seperate First and Last Name into different cells

I have a column of names with the first name followed by a space and the last
name. I need to put these into 2 different columns, one column the first
name and the other the last name. Could you please help me?

Dave Peterson

Insert a couple of extra columns to the right of the column with the names.

Select the column with the names and do
Data|Text to columns
delimited
by space

and see if that works for you.
