Highlight Discrepancies
 
Is there a way to highlight differences between to lists, but not change
them. Do you have to simply insert columns side by side and use conditional
formating?

No, you can use CF with a formula of

=COUNTIF(B:B,A1)0

in column A

and

=COUNTIF(A:A,B1)0

in column B
