Worksheet or Spreadsheet
 

Can someone please explain if there is any difference in the terminology of
a worksheet and a spreadsheets or is the latter simply a colloquial
expression for the former?

"Spreadsheet" is a colloquial expression. As such it has no exact meaning,
and could mean a worksheet but more likely would mean a workbook.
"Worksheet" has a specific, defined meaning in Excel, which is one sheet
within a workbook. A workbook may contain one or more worksheets.
