Copying Cell Content

Does anyone know how to copy only certain characters from cell to cell? For
instance, I am trying to copy the first 10 characters from a cell to a new
cell.

=LEFT(A1,10)

will return the 10 left-most characters in cell A1.

The other option is to copy the entire column to the new column, and then
use Data / Text to Columns on the new column with the Fixed Width option,
setting a break at the 10th character. This will split your data into 2
columns, the first being 10 characters wide and containing the first 10
characters of every cell, and the second column having the rest. Then just
select the second column and choose the option "Do not import" on that
column.
