in Excel 2003 use functions or conditional formating, how do you copy colour
from another source (reference) text cell to the current cell. (Being used
to colour code reflecting user entered data and selected colours).

Ah, that makes more sense than your previous message!. The answer is that
you can't (unless the colour in the other cell is by conditional formatting,
in which case you could use an equivalent condition and formatting).
Otherwise you'll need VBA.

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm may help you, & other contributors
may well have other suggestions.

Thank You, that was helpfull. I now need to apply the colour and the
contecnts of the referenced cell to the current cell, preferably without
creating other reference cells. Only background colour and content matters.
