I learned VBA programming from Excel VBA help files.
However, here's a site on which you can find a lot of books in PDF/CHM
format for download free.

www.pdfchm.com

You need one time registration.

I found nothing free on that site. Every book I tried gave me a "buy
now" link that took me to Amazon.

Could you give a specific link(s) to the specific free VBA book(s)
you're thinking of?

Good place for starters is David McRitchie's site.

http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/getstarted.htm

When you have mastered all he has to offer including links to other sites, see
Debra Dalgleish's site for a list of books.
