How do I create a drop down cell menu with different colour cells
 

I want to create a drop down menu in a cell where the only answers are Red,
Amber or Green, but I want the cell to background fill with the colour!

How about going to Data - Validation, then List, input Red, Amber, Green, and
then in that Cell, do a Conditional Format with those three Conditions?
