Hyperlink to Word Doc
I'm having a problem with hyperlinks in Excel linked to a Word doc. The
archives show some answers for a specific part of a Word doc and I just want the file to open up at the beginning. Do I still need a bookmark? The problem I am having is that I attach a hyperlink to a .doc file and it works fine the first time. If I save the file and try the link again, I get an error message that something to the effect of this file doesn't exist. (but it does). I thought possible there was a setup problem in Options but I don't see anything that relates to hyperlinks. Any ideas? |
Hyperlink to Word Doc
are the word document and the excel document in the same folder?
occassionally I have to revise the hyperlink path to a documentafter saving ..because it saves the path wrong. also check that the file-properties-summary-hyperlink base does not have anything in it. (This may be a useful feature, but it has screwed up hyperlink paths for me more than it has helped. "JICDB" wrote: I'm having a problem with hyperlinks in Excel linked to a Word doc. Hyperlink to Word Doc
=HYPERLINK("C:\temp\sample.doc","an example")
This will jump to the file if it is open and will open the file it not. -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200735 |
Hyperlink to Word Doc
For some reason adding =Hyperlink("file location/name") works for the first
hyperlink on the Excel spreadsheet but doesn't work on any subsequent ones. Also there is nothing in the "base" part. Because I can only get these results on one computer but not another I think it's related to the setup in Excel but I can't seem to find a variable that is different. My next option is to screen print each of the Options tabs and compare them to the computer where it does work.
